Cornbread and Chili recipes

Sweet cornbread and chili recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray or lightly grease a 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in egg, milk and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the oaf comes out clean.

  • 1 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
  • 1 pound(s) ground turkey
  • 1 large (about 1 cup) onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon(s) chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon(s) dried oregano leaves, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 3/4 cup(s) Swanson® Chicken Stock
  • 1 cup(s) Pace® Chunky Salsa
  • 1 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 1 can(s) (about 15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can(s) (about 16 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained

Directions
  1. Heat the oil in a 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the turkey, onion, chili powder, cumin, oregano, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the turkey is well browned, stirring often to separate meat.
  2. Stir the stock, salsa, sugar, beans, and corn in the saucepan and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.
